In science we have been learning about forces
and friction. We have been investigating water
and air resistance and began by testing various
boat hull shapes to see which were most streamlined.
In DT we designed and made our own land buggies
with sails. Making stable structures was extremely tricky
because some of our sails caused our buggies to topple
over. Therefore we had to adapt our designs. The other
problem that we faced was making sure that the wheel
axles didn't twist too much and cause our buggies to
swerve so some of us made spacers to keep the wheels
steady. We had to do a lot of thinking and problem solving
and have learnt a lot about what to consider if we want to
make another buggy in the future.
